Meet the
designer
My name is Matt Esckelson; I’m a graphic designer & illustrator with roughly 5 years of industry experience. I live in Traverse City, MI with my wife Rachel and our pet rescue pigeon, Andy.
I’ve had the privilege of creating logo & visual identity work for a number of Northern Michigan institutions, such as Traverse Connect, the North Boardman Lake District (NOBO), and the Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network, along with many other smaller enterprises.
Logo design, visual identity design, & illustration are what really get me out of bed in the morning, but I also have experience in environmental signage design, print design, advertising, and lettering.
Why the
name?
The name “Signet” is derived from signet rings, which were historically used to make impressions in wax on official documents or personal correspondences. Like the modern logo, it was an identifier, an authenticator, and – because they were used largely by prosperous persons – a mark of distinction.
